Resources - Your Fair Share
By Jo Cavanaugh
I have found many resources available for caregivers but I spent a lot of time and effort to find them. In some cases I needed a road map or trail guide to find them. That is why I developed a searchable database for CareSsentials. I have collected resources to help caregivers with their concerns, support, and assistance.
Please be my guest and try out the new database. I am eager to get your feedback and requests. If there is something that you need information on let me know I will include it in the database so that it will be available to all caregivers night or day.
An important part of self care is making sure that you get what you need. Now there is a resource for you to find the information and support that is available. Enjoy! Get your fair share here:

Words of Encouragement
February is the magic month of love. We see cupid, hearts, and flowers from every venue. With Valentine's Day on the 14th and Second Honeymoon Weekend celebrated on the 20th there are lots of opportunities to share our love.
Start your celebrations during this month of love with You. Love yourself so that you can love another. How do you show yourself that you care on a daily basis? Take some time to be good to yourself. Share the love but make sure that you are First in Line.

Messages for Caregivers
Here's a Valentine for You from Patty in Virginia. She calls this,
"The Woman I Call My Grandma."
I have been taking care of Mrs. Ruth for
three years now. She has brought so much joy
in my life and insight, and at the same time
brought me lots of tears. Her children show very
little interest in her so I'm about all she has. I live
with her so I catch a lot of the blame for the why's
of her children not coming to see her.
I know it's not my fault so I made the effort to take
her to see them and guess what they are back to
talking. I did this on days that I needed someone to
be with her when I had appointments of my own and
I didn't want to leave her alone.
Hopefully, I can bring a broken family together again.
It seems to be working right now, so give me luck.
Lot's of love to those of you that do give up your life
to give to others for it will be a blessing to you someday.
Elderly people and people with needs are surely blessed
in their own way. They can bring so much sunshine on
days that are blue for you.
Love to all,
Patty

Self Care Tip
Are you moving? Are you rockin' and a rollin'? Do you walk or get some type of exercise besides reading your emails?
It is very easy when the weather is cold to decide to stay inside and not exercise. May I suggest a quick three to five minute dance around the living room. Boogie to Chuck Berry or Two Step to Willie or Waylon. Just get up and move!
I'm going to put on a Donna Summer record and get back to the 80's with disco. Now where did I put that glitter ball?
Most of us miss out on life's big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel. Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we're all eligible for life's small pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four-pound bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A crackling fire. A great meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer. -- Anonymous
