Gather Your Rose Buds
By Jo Cavanaugh
I am blessed with gardens and planted areas where I walk that are filled with rose bushes. Big red blossoms or beautiful white blossoms, tipped with red. I can stop on my walk and smell the fresh tea aroma of yellow, pink, and coral blooms.
My neighborhood is a riot of roses. You can't miss them. It reminds me of Guadalajara, Mexico -- the City of Roses -- they say that Guadalajara has as many rose bushes as it has inhabitants - over 3 million when I was there last.
How are you spending your time this spring? Are you Gathering Your Rose Buds and caring for you? How are you tending your garden?
Enjoy the simple and amazing example of nature with the roses. They only know how to bud and then bloom.
Bloom this May!

I get a lot of newsletters and try to keep my eyes and ears open for new techniques and information about the diseases that my husband has. It's that information part of being a caregiver. You can never be too informed.
I received my copy of the April 29th Issue of AlzInfo.org a few days ago and wanted to share the article on communication. Take a look at the information about how to communicate. It really helps to hold the dis-ease in perspective.

Self Care Tip
We are almost at the half-way point of Spring and its getting warm here in San Diego County. Today we had record heat and it brings up a good reminder about drinking water.
Do you get your eight glasses of liquids each day? Were you aware that jello, pudding, and soup also classify as liquids. I wasn't until I read an article on Congestive Heart Failure and liquid intake.
Make sure that you drink plenty of water now that the weather is warming up. Make sure that your care receiver is also drinking water, juices, and liquids. Dehydration is a real danger with the elderly or for the ill.
Cheers. Let's lift a glass of water in a toast to great Self Care.
I shall not pass this way again; let me now relieve some pain, remove some barrier from the road, or lighten someone's heavy load. ~ Eva Rose York
