Freedom
By Jo Cavanaugh
July is the month when several countries celebrate their independence. We think of freedom and the celebration of the Fourth of July in the United States. The Forth of July marks the end of foreign rule for the United States. What is ruling your caregiving?
Personal freedom is more about our perceptions and beliefs than it is about being held down or subject to the rules of another. We can look at our caregiving tasks as unending and misery or stop, take a deep breath and look closer at how we are providing joy and assistance to someone that we love. We are needed. We provide necessary services and assistance.
During the month of July as we celebrate on the 4th for the USA and the 14th for France also remember to celebrate the freedoms in caregiving. There are options and choices if we stop and look for them. Don't be a prisoner or be held back because of perceptions and beliefs.
Be a fire cracker this month and celebrate.
Words of Encouragement
I am amazed at the strength and focus of my husband. He has survived a stroke, heart disease, and cancer. He lives his life with passion. One of his passions is game shows.
He will chuckle and smile when contestants win. He will groan and be disappointed when contestants don't get the big prize. He loves the puzzle and works to discover the answers. He is always interested in playing along.
I have such gratitude and send blessing to Bob Barker and Pat Sajak for the hours of bliss that they provide my husband. He is dedicated and determined to watch every day. He lives in anticipation of "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune." The shows are great friends and wonderful entertainment.
Do you have something that you enjoy? Make the time to find enjoyment in your every day life. Let me know if you also enjoy game shows.

Self Care Tip
Are you enjoying the lazy days of summer? Have you walked barefoot and dipped your toes into the pool or pond? Have you grabbed your fishing pole and heading off to your favorite fishing hole?
Nature sets a lovely pace and makes dramatic recommendations about how to spend our time. During the lazy and hot days of July take time to pace yourself with nature. Relax and enjoy the beauty and peace of a warm summer day.
Yes, risk-taking is inherently failure-prone.
Otherwise, it would be called sure-thing-taking. ~ Tim McMahon
