Self Care Focus: Give Yourself a Gift

By Jo Cavanaugh

Gifts come in many sizes and packages. Part of the excitement with a gift
is the wrapping and mystery behind the paper and ribbons. The moments of anticipation
and excitement make the receipt of a gift special.

We all love surprises and rewards. Take some time during this busy holiday season
to identify what you consider to be a gift. Is it time? Is it the ability to sit
quietly and read or think?

Give yourself a gift this holiday season of what you want. If it is time, then
schedule time and make it a priority for your day. If you want quiet or time to
do special hobbies or reading, then give yourself permission to do those tasks.

You have control of how you spend your time and caregiving is a choice. Be creative
and set an example for others. You can be the shining light that helps others to take
better care of themselves because they see how well you wear your self care.

Words of Encouragement

This will be the first Christmas in thirty-two years without my Handsome Husband.
And while I could find that a time to be sad, I'd rather remember the wonderful times
we did share. There were the cold and snowy celebrations in Alaska, the hot and spicy
food of New Orleans and always love.

Don't get caught up in tradtions or comparisons of holidays gone by. Give yourself
the wonderful gift of an adventurous spirit. Allow this holiday season to be new
and special. Let it be an adventure. Share your talents and gifts.

So Good I Want To Share It

Your Gift List Solved

If you are looking for a great gift and also a project to share with your
loved ones next year then I recommend Wiley Barker's Caring for your First Orchids.

Nancy and Wiley Barker are friends of mine and we share a love of orchids. I can't think
of a better project than taking care of an orchid. My husband loved orchids and
delighted in how the bloomed again and again when I followed simple steps.
I remember how much joy orchids brought to him when he was confined to his bed.

Share the joy of blooming flowers. It is so healing to be able to grow plants.
It is one activity that most people can do despite physical limitations or health.

I want a gift of beauty for years to come.Click on this link to find out more
about growing orchids and get free shipping during December.

Self Care Tip

" There's no such thing as coulda, shoulda, or woulda.
If you shoulda and coulda, you woulda done it. " ~ Pat Riley

Be your best.

Being your best means that you don't look back and wish for a do-over.
Being your best means that you don't look to the future and hope for a
second chance.

Be your best right now and at the end of the day you will know that you
did all that you could do. When you focus on being your best right now
you have more energy and resources because your only focus is on the now.
